Finalizing Production: Concluding Editing

On September 27th, Jack and I finished the last bit of the editing process. Here, we finished all the remaining parts of the commercial until it was completely ready. I began by recording the diegetic sound needed for the commercial. Recorded sounds that are imperative to focus on during the commercial to highlight the product. These sounds included when the body mist was sprayed. This diegetic sound was then overlapped on top of the existing background music and intensified in volume. After this I reduced or muted the original background sound in the videos recorded. Next, I implemented a three-way split screen in the middle of the commercial to call attention to the product. I formatted this with the product in the middle and two videos of the beach next to this clip. I edited these clips, so they appear according to the beat of the song. I also edited one of the clips to have the product placed in the middle and the words Bath and Body Works" on the sides. The next part of the editing process was adding text to the end of the commercial. This text first read the companies name in which we are making a product for, Bath and Body Works. Then it read the company's slogan, which is “come back to your senses”. I tried to make it appear as the words are fading on to the sky by adding an animation to the wording. Now all that was left was the final touches. I began by adding slight details all throughout the commercial. These details included stickers and animations in locations that accentuated the product's name. I also added some stickers around the rim of some of the clip’s frames. This concluded the editing and overall production process. Our commercial ended up being 29 seconds long.
