Elated Editing! - Production
On December 4th, my team and I began the editing process. However, they were scheduling issues that got in the way of editing. Most of my teammates, including me, could not meet up in real life after school this week due to homework, test preparation, work and afterschool extracurriculars. I suggested that we did a video call with Jack, who had all the clips saved on his device, and could edit while sharing his screen. We all complied to call around seven. Today’s editing was pretty straightforward. We wanted to get all of the basics out today and work on the details more tomorrow when we could finalize the project. I suggested to Jack to first begin by embedding the chosen spring song “Everybody wants to rule the world” by Tears for Fears first so we could overlay the clips on top. After this, we began aligning the clips. We first went through all of the clips and put our favorite ones into an album. We chose our top two favorites in case we needed another option. This lowered the number of clips we are dealing with by a substantial amount. After this, we begin putting the clips on top of the music. As a basis, we just embedded the clips as they were and didn’t cut or snip anything yet. After all the clips were placed in order, we begin cutting them to the desired timeframe. As we were doing this on-call, we verbally expressed our ideas on how long the clips are played for and the order they will plan to Jack. I suggested and talked Jack through many of the details that pertain to how the clip played out. We tried our best to line the clips to the beats of the song. I suggested that the intro would play for the first two scenes and then in the third scene where the friends come in the lyrics begin. I suggested this as lyrics a lot to the story. After snipping cutting all the clips to the desired sizes, we decided to end editing for the day and continue tomorrow.
