Production: Schedule Crisis!

Today Jack and I were very adamant on filming as much as possible. We knew that this task would be difficult as our film consisted of many different locations for each character. However, our logic resided in the fact that Jack has a drivers license now. This is something he has never had during our past projects, so we saw this task as feasible. I asked our fellow actors, Dylan and Eliana, if they were free today previously. They both stated, during the beginning of this week, that they were free and they would keep their calendars free. However, upon reminding Eliana about filming today she told us she completely forgot and was now busy with a school event. This set us back greatly as she is in two of the necessary scenes we need to film. Dylan on the other hand, kept his calendar free. This fact did not help us though as we had already filmed his individual scene and just needed him for the group scene. This left us with Jack’s individual scene and my two individual scenes to film.

We were planning on filming Jack’s scene directly after school. However, we then remembered about the timeline of our film. The entire project is supposed to consist in a timeline of one day. Jack’s scene was supposed to occur at the very end of the day so it had to be somewhat dark outside. With this information, we decided to begin with my scene, as this was supposed to occur at the beginning of the day.

After school, we were on our way to our first filming location, Galleria mall. Here we filmed the establishing shot first. Then we went inside of the mall and filmed the first scene. We went downstairs to the parking lot and the fourth scene there. The entire process took around an hour. The main thing dragging out our time was the changes in location.  Although I acted in all the scenes filmed today, I still held my director role. I choose my own positions and told Jack where to film as I came up with most of the storyboard so I had a clearer understanding.
